Leopard hides seized by Anantnag police, one held

SRINAGAR, Jan 30: Anantnag Police on Saturday claimed that they along with a team of wildlife raided a house in Shirpora area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district and recovered skins of various wild animals which according to them were killed by the accused.
An official statement quoting a senior wildlife official said that during raid at a house in Shirpora Anantnag, skin of various animals including lion, leopard and bear were recovered and the accused arrested for the barbaric and inhuman act of killing wild animals was identified as Gul MohdGanie, son of Abdul Rehman Ganie of Shirpora Anantnag, he said.
The concerned official added that an FIR under the relevant sections of law has been registered in this regard.
While talking to CNS,RoufZargar Wildlife Warden Anantnag said that that eight leopard hides, four musk dear pods and 38 bear gallbladders were recovered from the residence of arrested person.
He said that arrested person was on under vigil and evaded arrest several times. However, during preliminary investigation arrested person admitted that he has got these skins from Kishtwar.
He added that nothing can be said as final about the apt version of the case till an investigation is not completed.
