2 children among 3 injured in Pak sheeling in Poonch

JAMMU, Feb 1: Three of a family including 2 children were wounded after India and Pakistan treaded fire in Mankote Sector of Poonch district and resorted to massive shelling on Monday evening.
Defense sources that at about 17:45 hours Pakistan initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing with small Arms and shelling with mortars along LoC in Mankote sector of J&K’s Poonch district.
He said District Indian Army retaliated befittingly.
Local sources said that a shell landed in the premises of a local injuring 3 of a family. The injured included an elderly man and 2 children who have been evacuated to hospital for treatment.
The intermittent exchange of shelling was going on till the filing of this report.
On Thursday, a 20-year-old man was injured in Pakistani shelling along the LoC in Shahpur sector of Poonch. Jammu and Kashmir saw over 5,400 instances of ceasefire violations by Pakistan along the LoC in 2020 - the highest in the past 19 years. A total of 36 people were killed and over 130 injured.
